Here we are again, another January 1st of a new year. How exciting! This is the time of the year to reflect on the year past, and to set goals for the year ahead. How are you going to make this different for yourself than last year? Are you going to achieve the goals you set for yourself? Knowing what you want and having an intense desire to succeed are the main ingredients for achieving your goals. Like so many this time of year, your goal may be to lose weight and get fit, maybe you want to race in a 5K, or a half marathon, or perhaps your goal is to compete in a triathlon. Whatever your goals are, write them down and put them in a place where you can read them everyday – and everyday, take whatever steps are necessary to get you closer to reaching them. Use visualization as a motivator when it comes to reaching your goals. Picture yourself in your favorite pair of jeans, with your butt looking exactly how you want it to look. Imagine yourself crossing the finish line of one of the races you signed up for. When I first started swimming back in April of last year, I needed to stop and rest after one lap – one lap! Now, each time before I get in the water, I imagine myself swimming effortlessly. I will of course, admit that it’s not effortless; however, my swimming has greatly improved since April.
Make this year your best one yet. Get out of your comfort zone, challenge yourself, believe in yourself – you CAN do it!
